Course Description

LAHSA's Professional Ensemble elective prepares students to participate in the Drama Teacher's Association of Southern California theatrical festival, participate in competitive theatrical events (August Wilson Monologue Competition) and further develop a professional portfolio. Professional Ensemble serves as an advanced, Senior level performance and design class but is open to Students that are well versed in performance or design fundamentals.

Course Description

Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer college-level study to high school students. Students who obtain high scores on the examinations may be eligible for college credits. The AP Examinations are administered each year in May and represent the culmination of college-level work in a given discipline in a secondary school setting. Rigorously developed by committees of college and AP high school faculty, the AP Exams test students' ability to perform at a college level.

Course Description

This course is designed to help you better understand the elements of film and the creative process behind writing a script. This course is not just about screenwriting specifically but also about becoming better, more intentional writers in general.

By the end of the term my hope is that you exit the
Classroom:

Being less of a perfectionist and allowing yourself to take part in the creative process. (develop a growth mindset)
A greater appreciation for film and the elements of screenwriting.
Become more efficient and careful writers.
Become a master at giving constructive criticism.

Course Description

This class is a daily rigorous, disciplined and exciting plunge in what it takes to become a dynamic performer, with a strong emphasis on physical and vocal expression, while preparing students for competitions and college.

Students will hone their skills as performers of depth, transformation, and truth in a variety of acting styles.
Students will be introduced, through a series of guest artists and visitors from the professional community, to the practical world of the performance scene in Los Angeles and beyond.
Students will learn audition and interview techniques that will prepare them for real-world applications for college and the theatre.
